This Mount Toubkal 2-day trek from Marrakech offers you the classic route to summit the highest peak in North Africa. Designed for trekkers who want to reach the 4,167-metre summit in a focused timeframe, this small-group experience departs from Marrakech with hotel pickup included. You will navigate the high-altitude trails of the High Atlas Mountains under the supervision of a certified mountain guide.
Your journey begins with a ninety-minute drive from Marrakech to the trailhead at Imlil, positioned at 1,740 metres. Here, you meet your local support team, including a certified guide and a muleteer who handles your main luggage. You then embark on a five-to-six-hour trek up the Mizane valley, climbing steadily to the Toubkal refuge at 3,207 metres where a hot dinner and a dormitory bed await.
The second day starts early with a summit push at five in the morning, climbing for three to four hours over scree to reach the peak for sunrise views. If you climb during the winter, crampons and ice axes are provided to help you navigate the snowy sections safely. From the 4,167-metre peak, you can see across the entire Atlas chain, the Sahara haze to the south, and the Marrakech plain to the north.
After taking in the summit panoramas, you make your descent back down to Imlil for a late lunch with your small group. Your guide, who speaks English, French, and Berber, looks after the navigation and pacing throughout the journey, while all meals from lunches to trail snacks are fully provided. You then board the return transport back to Marrakech, arriving in the afternoon for a convenient hotel drop-off.
This challenging mountain trek is designed for active travellers with a small-group maximum of ten people. You will need to bring personal trekking gear, broken-in hiking boots, and a warm jacket, hat, and gloves for the cold high-altitude temperatures. The trek runs in both summer and winter, with essential winter equipment provided to ensure your security on the snowy slopes.

Can you really climb Mount Toubkal in 2 days?
Yes. The two-day ascent is the standard itinerary: day one is a 5-6 hour walk from Imlil to the refuge at 3,207 m, day two is a 3-4 hour summit push to 4,167 m and the descent back to Imlil. It works for walkers in good general fitness. If you have never been above 3,000 m, the 3-day Azzaden route adds an acclimatisation night and a higher success rate.
How much does the 2-day Toubkal ascent cost and what is included?
