A first-timer's walk through a Marrakech sunrise balloon morning: when pickup is confirmed, how the flight works, what weather means, what to wear and how to prepare your booking.
The morning in one paragraph
A sunrise balloon flight from Marrakech takes about three and a half hours from pickup to return. You are collected before dawn, driven to the launch area, watch the balloons being prepared, fly in the sunrise window, land, eat a Berber breakfast and are driven back to the city while the morning is still young. Pickup: why the time is confirmed late
Balloons fly around sunrise, and sunrise moves by well over an hour across the year. Our operational start reference is around 05:00, but the exact pickup time for your date is confirmed before the flight, once sunrise, season, weather and operational conditions are known.
Pickup is from your Marrakech accommodation. When you book, give us the exact name of your hotel or riad and a WhatsApp number, so the confirmation reaches you the evening before.
Sunrise and the flight itself
At the launch area the envelopes are laid out and filled with hot air. This is the moment many people remember most, and the best time for ground photographs.
Once airborne the balloon travels with the wind, so it feels calm rather than fast. You look out over the countryside around Marrakech and, on a clear morning, towards the distant Atlas. Because the route and visibility depend on the wind and the air, nobody can promise a specific flight path or mountain view — and we do not.
Weather decides the morning
Ballooning needs suitable weather and operational clearance. The decision is made on the day, and take-off is never guaranteed. If the flight cannot operate because of weather, we rebook you on another date or give you a full refund.
The practical tip: fly early in your stay, not on your last morning, so a weather day can be moved rather than lost.
What to wear
Warm layers. The early morning outside the city is much colder than a Marrakech afternoon, even in warm months. Closed, comfortable shoes for the field and the landing, a hat for after sunrise, and a phone or camera on a strap.
Breakfast after landing
A Berber breakfast is included in both the shared and the private option. It is served after landing, before the transfer back to Marrakech.
Shared or private?
The shared flight is €145 per person and you fly alongside other travellers — the simplest choice for most couples, solo travellers and families. The private flight is €700 per person and suits proposals, anniversaries, honeymoons and celebrations. What the private option makes private is confirmed with you in writing before the flight.
Photography and families
Shoot the inflation on the ground, then the first minutes after sunrise in the air, when the light changes fastest. Keep straps on everything — nothing should be able to fall from the basket.
Families are welcome to ask. The minimum age for children is confirmed with you before booking, so tell us the ages in your group when you enquire.
Preparing your booking
Choose shared or private, pick your date and the number of guests, and pay online by PayPal or debit/credit card: €145 × guests for shared, €700 × guests for private. Your requested date is subject to flight availability and weather confirmation, and we contact you to confirm your pickup.
