What Really Happens at an Agafay Dinner Show

From the welcome mint tea to the fire dancers — a step-by-step look at a Berber camp evening.
Arrival and mint tea
Camps welcome you with poured-from-height mint tea and almond pastries on a terrace facing the Atlas. This is the moment to walk up to the viewpoint before the light goes.
The food
Dinner typically starts with a spread of cooked Moroccan salads — zaalouk, taktouka, carrot and cumin — followed by a chicken with preserved lemon tagine or a lamb and prune tagine, then couscous, seasonal fruit and tea. Vegetarian and vegan versions are genuinely good if you ask in advance.
The show
Expect Gnawa musicians with krakebs and guembri, Berber drumming, a dance set and a fire performance. Most camps invite guests to join the drum circle at the end.
Stars
Away from Marrakech's glow, the Milky Way is visible from spring to autumn. Some camps bring out a telescope; all of them switch off the lanterns for a few minutes if you ask.
