What Really Happens at an Agafay Dinner Show

Inside the camp on a dinner-show evening: the welcome, the meal, the music and the fire — and what nobody can promise you about the sky.
Arrival, while there is still light
You arrive at the camp before dark, which is deliberate: the last hour of light is the only time you can see the shape of the country you have driven into, and it is when the walk out to a viewpoint is worth doing. Mint tea on arrival is the standard welcome.
The meal
Dinner is Moroccan and served at the camp. We deliberately do not print a menu here: camps change what they cook with the season, and a menu published in advance is a promise made about someone else's kitchen. Tell us about allergies or dietary needs when you book and we pass them on before the evening.
The music and the fire show
On the evenings that include a programme, there is live Moroccan music and a fire show after dinner. Both are performed for the camp's guests that night rather than for one table — worth knowing before you book anything advertised as a "private dinner".
The sky, honestly
Agafay is far enough from Marrakech to be a genuinely dark site, and once the lamps are turned down your eyes adjust. What the sky actually shows depends on the moon phase and the weather on your date, and nobody can sell you a guarantee of that.
What to wear once the sun goes down
Agafay sits on open stone, so the temperature drops quickly after sunset even in summer — bring a jacket or a jumper, and closed shoes if you plan to walk up to a viewpoint in the dark. In winter, treat the evening as genuinely cold.
