Quad or Buggy in the Agafay Desert? An Operator's Honest Comparison

We run both machines on the same Agafay tracks, so here is the difference that actually matters: who can drive, who sits where, what the day includes and what each one costs.
The one-line answer
Take the quad if you want a short, cheap hit of desert riding attached to a camel ride and a camp dinner: that is our €45 evening. Take a buggy if you want the driving itself to be the day, sitting side by side with someone, with a Moroccan lunch and pool time or a desert dinner built around it.
The machines share the same ground — the gravel plateau, the dry riverbeds and the ridges southwest of Marrakech — so this is not a question of scenery. It is a question of who drives, who sits next to you, and what happens after the engines stop.
Side by side: the differences that change your booking

The licence rule catches people out
This is the single most common reason a booking has to be rearranged. On a buggy, the person at the wheel must be 18 or over and must hold a valid driving licence, and we check it before the drive. If nobody in your pair drives, the buggy day is not the right booking — the quad evening is.
The other half of the same rule is happier: because one buggy carries two people, a non-driver rides free of that requirement. Couples usually book one buggy between them, and if both hold licences they swap partway.
Heat, dust and the honest bit about timing
Agafay is open, pale and unshaded. In high summer the middle of the day is genuinely hot, which is why the daytime buggy programme leaves Marrakech around 09:30 and puts the swimming pool after the drive rather than before it. The sunset programme leaves around 15:30 and puts you on the tracks as the light goes long.
Dust is not optional on either machine. Closed shoes, sunglasses and a scarf or buff make a large difference, and an evening layer matters more than people expect: once the sun drops behind the Atlas the temperature falls quickly.
Which of our four buggy days is yours
The four buggy products exist because travellers want genuinely different days, not because we wanted four pages. They share the same hour at the wheel and the same Marrakech pickup and return; what changes is who is in the vehicle beside you and what the desert gives you afterwards.

Where this fits in a Marrakech trip
Agafay is 30 to 45 minutes from central Marrakech, so a buggy day or a quad evening costs you part of a day rather than the whole of it. That is the entire reason the stone desert works for short city trips, and why it is not a substitute for the Sahara dunes.
