You do not have to climb Toubkal to enjoy Imlil. Here is how a full day works — the road up, the village, a walk, lunch and the way back — and how to book each part.
Why visit Imlil if you are not trekking?
Imlil is a mountain village in the High Atlas and the usual starting point for Mount Toubkal. But plenty of visitors come for the valley itself: terraces, walnut trees, village paths and a change of air from Marrakech. Not climbing is a perfectly good reason to come.
Getting there
You have two ways to do it with us. The guided Imlil day trip from Marrakech bundles transport and a guide. Or book the private transfer (€50 one way, €90 round trip) and plan the day yourself.
Explore: a walk sized to you
A locally guided valley walk from Imlil suits non-hikers and families. If you want more road and less walking, the private Jeep Atlas experience covers several valleys from Marrakech instead.
Lunch in the Atlas Mountains
Lunch is the centre of the day. Restaurant Targa in Imlil serves Moroccan tagines (80–160 DH), salads from 20 DH, pizza from 30 DH, sandwiches from 20 DH and fresh juices from 15 DH. We do not fix a lunch time for you — it depends on your walk.
Restaurant Targa takes reservations and group requests on +212 6 86 83 15 58 (call or WhatsApp). The Google listing shows daily opening from 09:00 to 23:30; check before travelling on a holiday.
What if the day makes you want to trek?
Many visitors come back. The 2-day summit trek and the 3-day Azzaden trek both start from Imlil; if you want to stay overnight first, see where to stay.
