Starting with a pickup from your hotel or riad in Marrakech, you will head towards the mountain village of Imlil, which sits at 1,740 m at the head of the Mizane valley. This trip suits anyone looking to swap the busy city streets for fresh mountain air and traditional village paths.
Your day begins with a drive through Asni and up into the Mizane valley, where you meet your local guide who lives and works in this area. From Imlil, you will set off on a guided walk along paths that wind through walnut terraces, irrigation channels, and Amazigh hamlets built directly into the slopes. As you walk, your guide will explain how these mountain communities live and manage their farming terraces.
At midday, you will stop for a traditional lunch in the valley, giving you a chance to rest while enjoying views of the surrounding Toubkal massif. Everything is arranged for you, from your mountain guide and lunch to your return private transport back to Marrakech. The walking pace is always set to match the comfort of your small or private group.
In the afternoon, you will make your way back down to Imlil, where you will have some time to spend in the village before the return drive. This walking day serves as an honest way to test whether a longer, multi-day Toubkal trek is something you would like to commit to in the future.
Please note that you will be walking on uneven mountain paths with some ascents, so comfortable walking shoes or light boots are required. You should also bring a warm layer and a windproof jacket, as the mountain valley is much cooler than Marrakech. In winter, the upper paths can experience snow, and the walking route is shortened to ensure safety.
