Where to stay in Imlil: what the hotels, riads, gîtes and guest houses actually are
Imlil is the last village on the surfaced road up the Aït Mizane valley, and almost everyone who walks Toubkal sleeps there at least once. The choice of beds is much wider than the handful of names that dominate search results — we currently hold 52 accommodations in the Imlil area in our arrival list, 22 of them in Imlil village itself. This page explains what those places actually are, because the labels are used loosely and they change what your arrival looks like.
The words on your booking: gîte, riad, lodge, kasbah, guest house
In this valley the label tells you more about the building than about a star rating, which nobody here is obliged to hold. A gîte is the mountain guest house of the Moroccan trekking tradition: simple rooms, often shared bathrooms, sometimes dormitories, built for walkers. A guest house is the broader family-run equivalent. A riad in the mountains borrows the name from the city courtyard house and generally means something more decorated. A lodge is usually newer and purpose-built for visitors. A kasbah is a fortified building, or a modern property built in that style. Across our list the split is: 20 guesthouses, 9 lodges, 8 hotels, 8 riads, 5 gîtes, 1 kasbah, 1 hostel.
What we can verify, and what we deliberately do not publish
We are a transport company, so the only thing we are qualified to verify is how a traveller and their luggage physically reach a property. We do that from what the property itself publishes, or from another public source. Ten of the 52 places in our list publish something concrete about vehicle access; for the other 42 nothing public states it, and we record that as UNKNOWN rather than filling the gap with a guess.
What you will not find here: room prices, availability, breakfast, pools, parking, ownership, phone numbers or review scores. Those belong to the properties and to the sites they list with. Copying them would make this page a worse version of something that already exists.
Choosing by how you want to arrive
If it is your first night off a flight and you are carrying a suitcase, a property on the valley floor in Imlil village is the simplest arrival. If you have chosen somewhere on the shoulder above the village or up in a hamlet, the last part of the journey may be a walk, with bags sometimes going up by mule — an arrangement the property makes, not us. Neither is better; they are just different evenings, and it is worth knowing which one you have booked before you arrive in the dark.

Toubkal Views is a transport and trekking company. We are not any of these properties, we do not represent them and we have no partnership with them unless it is stated explicitly. We publish no room prices, availability, photographs or reviews for them, and nothing on this page is copied from a booking site. Where a property has not published a fact, we write UNKNOWN rather than estimate it.
