Oukaimeden is where the road out of Marrakech stops climbing. It is a broad high plateau in the High Atlas, above the tree line, used for grazing in summer and covered in snow in winter — the one place close to the city where travellers can stand in real mountain terrain without walking for two days to get there.
The day is about the drive and the altitude. You leave Marrakech and follow the Ourika road before turning up a series of switchbacks through walnut trees and stone villages, watching the temperature drop and the valley open out below you. At the top the landscape changes completely: open ground, rock, big sky and the main Atlas ridges in front of you.
In winter there is usually snow on the plateau, which is why Moroccan families drive up here at the weekend. In the warmer months the same plateau is grazing land, with shepherds, mules and long views. Your guide explains what you are looking at and where the peaks are, including the Toubkal massif.
We do not publish a driving time or promise snow. Both depend on the season, the weather and the road, and we would rather tell you the honest picture for your date on WhatsApp before you book.

Oukaimeden sits high in the High Atlas above the tree line. We do not publish an exact altitude figure we have not verified — your guide will explain the terrain on site.
