Full description
Not everyone has a spare full day. The Ourika valley is the closest real mountain landscape to Marrakech, and this half-day version gets you into it and back without losing the whole of your stay to a single excursion. You follow the river south out of the city, watch the plain turn into red valley walls, and stop where the valley is at its best rather than driving on to the far end.
The visit is built around one Berber village and one household, not a chain of souvenir stops. You see how houses are built into the slope, how water is moved to the terraces, and you sit down for mint tea with a view over the valley. Your guide is from the mountains and explains what you are looking at.
There is time by the river, where cafés put tables directly on the water in the warm months, and a short walk on a valley path if your group wants it. This is a gentler trip than the Setti Fatma waterfalls day: no long climb, no scramble, and back in Marrakech for the rest of your plans.
