Full description

This is the loop travellers discover on their second visit to Marrakech. Lalla Takerkoust is a reservoir held back by a dam at the foot of the Atlas, and the Kik Plateau is the long flat ridge above it — the same high ground that paragliders launch from. Together they make a day of water, plateau and mountain views without a single long drive.

You start at the lake, where the water sits against dry hills with the Atlas behind it, and where lakeside places serve lunch on terraces facing the water. Then the road climbs onto the Kik Plateau, a broad table of farmland with the mountain wall on one side and a view back across the plain towards the Agafay desert side on the other. The photo stops on this road are the reason people book the trip.

It works well as a slower alternative to the standard three-valley circuit: fewer stops, more time at each, and a landscape that changes character three times in one day. It also combines easily with a tandem paragliding flight from the plateau, which we sell separately.

Timings depend on your pickup point and how long you want at the lake, so we agree them with you rather than printing a fixed schedule.

  • The lake is a working reservoir — water level changes noticeably through the year.
  • The plateau is exposed and windier than the city. Bring a layer even in summer.
  • We do not organise jet skis or motorised water activities at the lake.
  • Tell us if you want to add a paragliding flight from the plateau; that is a separate product with its own conditions.

Can we swim in the lake?
