Full description

An hour inland from the Agadir beaches, the Tamraght river has cut a palm-filled canyon into the western High Atlas. Paradise Valley is the best-known stretch of it: smooth rock ledges, palm groves and pools of cold, clear green water.

The drive up passes through argan country, and we stop at a women's cooperative where you can see the nuts being cracked and pressed by hand before continuing into the mountains.

At the valley you have several hours to walk the canyon path, swim if the water level allows, and eat a tagine lunch on a terrace above the pools before the drive back to the coast in the afternoon.

  • The canyon path is uneven; sturdy shoes matter more than sandals.
  • Cliff jumping is popular with local youngsters but is not part of the tour and we do not encourage it.
  • There are no lifeguards; swimming is at your own risk.
  • Lunch is not included so you can choose your own terrace and budget.
