Full description

The Majorelle garden is the most visited site in Marrakech and the easiest to get wrong: arrive at the wrong hour and you queue, walk it without context and it is just a blue building with cacti. This half day is designed to fix both problems.

You are collected from your accommodation and taken to Gueliz, the modern quarter built outside the old walls. With a local guide you visit the Majorelle garden — planted by the French painter Jacques Majorelle and later saved by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé — and the museum quarter next to it, where the designer's connection to the city is set out properly.

Around the visits your guide shows you the part of Marrakech that most itineraries skip entirely: the twentieth-century city, its architecture, its cafés and how it relates to the medina you are staying in. It is a good first morning for travellers who want context before diving into the souks.

Entrance tickets are not included, because prices and site rules change and we would rather you pay the real amount on the day than build a guess into a package. Your guide handles the practicalities of getting in.
