Full description

Morocco has four imperial capitals — Rabat, Meknes, Fes and Marrakech — and most itineraries only manage two. Eight days from Casablanca is enough for all four, plus the Roman city of Volubilis, the blue town of Chefchaouen and a night in the Sahara.

The first half is history and architecture: the Atlantic capitals, the Roman mosaics of Volubilis, the monumental gates of Meknes, a full day in Fes and an overnight in Chefchaouen when the day visitors have gone.

The second half turns south for landscape: the Middle Atlas cedar forests, the Ziz Valley, a camel ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes, and then the kasbah route west to Marrakech through the Todra Gorge, the Dades hairpins and Ait Ben Haddou.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Casablanca → Rabat

Seafront Casablanca, then Rabat: the kasbah, the Hassan Tower area and the Andalusian gardens.

  2. Day 2

    Rabat → Meknes → Volubilis → Fes

Imperial Meknes, Roman Volubilis, arrival in Fes.

  3. Day 3

    Fes

Free day in the medina, with an optional licensed guide.

  4. Day 4

    Fes → Chefchaouen

North into the Rif for an afternoon and night in the blue city.

  5. Day 5

Chefchaouen → Middle Atlas → Midelt

South again through Fes and the cedar forests to Midelt for the night.

  6. Day 6

Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga

The Ziz palm canyon and Erfoud, then a sunset camel ride and a night in a desert camp.

  7. Day 7

    Merzouga → Todra → Dades

Dune sunrise, Todra Gorge and the Dades Valley.

  8. Day 8

Dades → Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakech

  • Monument entrance fees are not included and are paid locally, so you only pay for the sites you choose to enter.
  • Accommodation is selected for comfort and location; we confirm the standard with you before booking and never name a specific hotel until it is reserved.

Does the tour end in Marrakech?
