This Atlas peaks and valleys trek from Marrakech offers a comprehensive six-day hiking circuit designed for walkers who want to explore the High Atlas range beyond just its highest summit. You will tackle a point-to-point route that crosses from valley to valley and climbs two peaks over 4,000 metres. This challenging mountain journey is ideal if you are looking for varied alpine terrain without repeating any of your trails.
Your journey begins with private return transport from Marrakech to meet your support team in the mountains before walking to Aroumd for your first night. Over the following days, you will cross the Tizi Mzik pass into the Azzaden valley, sleep in a village gite at Tizi Oussem, and climb to the Lepiney refuge. You then ascend Ouanoukrim at 4,089 metres and traverse to the Toubkal refuge before making an early climb of Jbel Toubkal at 4,167 metres.
Throughout this High Atlas circuit, you alternate challenging high-altitude climbs with walks through green valleys, irrigation channels, walnut grooves, and threshing floors. Your accommodation is split between dormitory-style mountain refuges and village gites with simple rooms and shared bathrooms. A certified, federation-licensed mountain guide leads the way, while a cook prepares all your mountain meals and muleteers manage the mules carrying your main luggage.
This challenging trek is best run between April and October and is designed for private or small groups with a maximum of 12 travellers. You should be comfortable walking six consecutive days, including walking six to eight hours with a day pack on high-altitude summit days. Your support team speaks English, French, Spanish, Berber, and Arabic, ensuring clear communication throughout the journey.
To participate, you must bring broken-in hiking boots with ankle support, a warm insulating layer, a windproof shell, and a headlamp with spare batteries. You also need to supply your own travel and mountain insurance, personal trekking clothing, and a sleeping bag. This thorough preparation ensures you are fully equipped for the demanding ascents of both Jbel Toubkal and Ouanoukrim.

Marrakech → Imlil → Aroumd
Transfer, meet the team and walk to Aroumd for the first night in the valley.
Day 2
Tizi Mzik → Azzaden valley
Cross the Tizi Mzik pass into the Azzaden valley and sleep in a village gite at Tizi Oussem.
Day 3
Azzaden → Lepiney refuge
Climb the valley head to the Lepiney hut beneath the western cirque.
Day 4
Ouanoukrim
Ascend Ouanoukrim (4,089 m), then traverse to the Toubkal refuge at 3,207 m.
Day 5
Jbel Toubkal
Early summit of Toubkal (4,167 m) and descent to Aroumd.
Day 6
Imlil and return
Short valley walk to Imlil, lunch, and the drive back to Marrakech.
