Full description

This is the shortest itinerary that still gives you the real Sahara rather than a rushed photo stop. You leave Marrakech after breakfast, climb the Tizi n'Tichka pass through the High Atlas, and drop into the pre-Saharan south where the landscape turns to kasbahs, palm groves and red rock.

The second day is the classic road of a thousand kasbahs: the Dades Valley with its famous hairpin bends, the vertical walls of the Todra Gorge, and then the long straight run east until the orange dunes of Erg Chebbi appear on the horizon. You swap the vehicle for a camel at golden hour and sleep in a desert camp.

Day three brings sunrise over the dunes before you turn back west through Rissani and the Draa side of the country, and day four returns you to Marrakech over the Atlas with time for the viewpoints you missed on the way out. Everything is private: your group, your vehicle, your driver, and an itinerary we can adjust before you travel.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1

Marrakech → Ait Ben Haddou → Ouarzazate → Dades Valley

Morning pickup, Tizi n'Tichka pass, a guided walk through Ait Ben Haddou, a stop in Ouarzazate and on through Skoura and the Valley of Roses to the Dades Valley for the night.

  2. Day 2

Dades → Todra Gorge → Merzouga dunes

The Dades hairpins in the morning light, then the Todra Gorge, lunch in the palmeraie and the long drive east. Camel ride into Erg Chebbi at sunset, dinner and a night in a desert camp.

  3. Day 3

Sahara sunrise → Rissani → Ouarzazate side

Sunrise over the dunes, breakfast at the camp, then west again with stops at desert villages and viewpoints before overnighting in the Ouarzazate or Skoura area.

  4. Day 4

Back over the Atlas to Marrakech

A relaxed morning, the Tizi n'Tichka in reverse with Berber village and argan stops, and drop-off at your Marrakech hotel in the afternoon.

  • Monument entrance fees are not included and are paid locally, so you only pay for the sites you choose to enter.
  • Accommodation is selected for comfort and location; we confirm the standard with you before booking and never name a specific hotel until it is reserved.
  • Anything not listed as included may require an extra payment — we will tell you the cost before you commit.

Frequently asked questions

Is 4 days enough to see the Sahara from Marrakech?

Yes — four days is the shortest comfortable way to reach the Erg Chebbi dunes from Marrakech, sleep in the desert and come back without spending every hour in the vehicle. If you want a slower pace or a second desert night, tell us and we will extend the itinerary.

Is the tour private or shared?

Private. Only your group travels in the vehicle and the schedule is yours — we can start earlier, stop longer or change the order of the stops.

What kind of accommodation is used?

Comfortable hotels, riads or kasbah guesthouses on the road nights, and a desert camp in the dunes. We confirm the exact standard with you before we reserve anything.

What does the price depend on?

Travel dates, the number of travellers, the accommodation level you choose and any extras such as a licensed local guide. We send a written quote on WhatsApp before you commit.

Can you pick us up from a hotel outside the medina?

Yes. Pickup anywhere in Marrakech is included, and we can also collect you from Marrakech Menara airport at no extra cost if your arrival matches the departure day.
