Pełny opis

Most people climb Mount Toubkal over two or more days, sleeping at the refuge at 3,207 m before the summit push. This product exists for the smaller number of travellers who are already fit, already used to long mountain days, and specifically want the ascent compressed into one.

You leave Marrakech at 04:00. The drive up to Imlil takes approximately two hours, and the walking starts there, at the head of the Mizane valley. The ascent to the summit takes approximately five hours and the descent approximately two and a half — roughly seven and a half hours of walking, ending back in Imlil for dinner before the transfer returns you to Marrakech.

It is not the recommended first Toubkal experience for most travellers. There is no acclimatisation whatsoever, the descent arrives on legs that have already climbed all morning, and the day gives you no spare time if the weather turns or the group slows. If you have any doubt, take the two-day itinerary: the same mountain, the same guides, the ascent divided over two days with a refuge night in between.

Two ways to walk it. The sportive group departure is €117 per person and puts you with other hikers who have accepted the same demanding format, up to a maximum of 12 participants. The private option is €162 per person and your group walks alone with its own guide. Private is not easier, not shorter and makes no summit more likely — it simply changes who walks beside you.

No summit is guaranteed and no weather is guaranteed. Your guide sets the pace, watches how you are moving and may stop the ascent or turn the group back whenever weather, mountain conditions, pace, fitness or safety make continuing inappropriate.

Plan wycieczki

  1. 04:00

    Departure from Marrakech

We leave Marrakech at 04:00. Your exact pickup point in the city is confirmed in writing with your booking.

  2. Approx. 2 hours

    Transfer to Imlil

The drive from Marrakech up to Imlil takes approximately two hours. Road and traffic conditions can change it, so treat it as an approximate transfer time rather than a guaranteed one.

  3. Approx. 5 hours

    Ascent from Imlil

The walking starts in Imlil and follows the standard route up the Mizane valley past Aroumd, the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch and the Toubkal refuge at 3,207 m. The ascent takes approximately five hours, depending on your pace, breaks, conditions and your guide's decisions.

  4. Summit objective

    Mount Toubkal — 4,167 m altitude

The summit of Mount Toubkal stands at an altitude of 4,167 m. It is a summit attempt, weather and mountain conditions permitting: your guide may stop the ascent or turn the group back when continuing is inappropriate.

  5. Approx. 2½ hours

    Descent to Imlil

The descent back down the same route to Imlil takes approximately two and a half hours, on legs that have already climbed all morning. Your guide will manage the pace of the group.

  6. Evening

    Dinner in Imlil

Dinner in Imlil after the trek, before the vehicle sets off again.

  7. After dinner

    Return transfer to Marrakech

The transfer returns you to Marrakech after dinner. We do not publish a fixed arrival time back in the city: weather, mountain conditions, your pace, breaks and your guide's decisions all affect when the day ends.

Warto wiedzieć przed rezerwacją

  • This is the hardest way to see the summit: approximately five hours of ascent and two and a half hours of descent, with no acclimatisation at all, after a 04:00 departure from Marrakech. It is intended for hikers with current hill fitness who regularly complete long, steep mountain days.
  • All timings are approximate operational timings, not guaranteed completion times. Weather, mountain conditions, your pace, breaks and your guide's decisions all change them.
  • 4,167 m is the altitude of the summit of Mount Toubkal, not a walking distance. We do not publish a trail distance for this route because it is not verified in our own records.
  • For most travellers the 2-day Mount Toubkal trek is the more suitable choice: the same route and the same guides, with a refuge night dividing the climb.
  • No summit is promised. It is a summit attempt, weather and mountain conditions permitting. The guide may stop the ascent or require the group to turn back when weather, mountain conditions, pace, fitness or safety make continuing inappropriate.
  • Age 16 to 48. That is a limit, not a suitability test: being inside the age range does not by itself mean the day suits you, and strong current hiking fitness is required as well.
  • Two options, one walk: sportive group at €117 per person with a maximum of 12 participants, or private at €162 per person. The private option changes who walks with you, not the difficulty, the route or the chance of reaching the summit.
  • Emergency response support, including access to an intervention team and ambulance support, is available when required. No ambulance accompanies the group on the mountain and no response time can be promised.
  • We do not sell the one-day ascent in winter conditions. A snow ascent needs crampons, an ice axe and the skills to use them, and those cannot be safely compressed into a single day for travellers we have not walked with. Book the winter itineraries instead.
  • Altitude affects fit people too. Headaches, nausea and shortness of breath above 3,000 m are common and are grounds for the guide to stop the ascent.
  • Completing the fitness questions on this page does not confirm a booking. A member of the team checks your date and your hiking background with you first, and confirms the plan for your day in writing.

Najczęstsze pytania

Can you climb Mount Toubkal in one day?

In snow-free conditions, with a guide, and with strong current hill fitness: yes. Leaving Marrakech at 04:00, it means approximately five hours of ascent from Imlil to the 4,167 m summit and approximately two and a half hours of descent, all in the same day. It is the hardest way to do the mountain and it is not what we recommend to most travellers.

Does the one-day Toubkal trek start in Marrakech?

Yes. We depart from Marrakech and the transfer to Imlil and back is included. The walking itself begins in Imlil, at the head of the Mizane valley.

What time do we leave Marrakech?

04:00. Your exact pickup point in Marrakech is confirmed in writing with your booking, and the drive up to Imlil takes approximately two hours.

How long does the ascent take?

Approximately five hours from Imlil to the summit. That is an approximate operational timing and not a guaranteed one — pace, breaks, conditions and your guide's decisions all affect it.

How long does the descent take?

Approximately two and a half hours back down to Imlil, which makes roughly seven and a half hours of walking across the day. Again, approximate rather than guaranteed.

How difficult is Mount Toubkal in one day?

Very demanding. The walking is non-technical on the normal route, but the combination of vertical gain to 4,167 m, altitude and the length of the day — with no refuge night and no acclimatisation — is what makes it hard. If long steep hill days are not already normal for you, this format will not suit you.

Who is this trek suitable for?

Fit, sportive, experienced hikers who are comfortable with sustained uphill and downhill walking and specifically want the ascent and descent in a single day. Anyone else should take the 2-day Mount Toubkal trek.

What is the age requirement?

Age 16 to 48. Age alone does not decide whether the day suits you: strong current hiking fitness is required as well, which is why we confirm suitability with you before accepting a date.

Is reaching the summit guaranteed?

No. It is a summit attempt, weather and mountain conditions permitting. Your guide may stop the ascent or turn the group back whenever weather, mountain conditions, pace, fitness or safety make continuing inappropriate, and turning around is a normal outcome of this format.

Is dinner included?

Yes. Dinner in Imlil after the trek is included, before the transfer back to Marrakech. Breakfast, lunch and trail food during the day are not included.

Can I book a private one-day Toubkal trek?

Yes. The private option is €162 per person and your group walks alone with its own guide. The sportive group departure is €117 per person with a maximum of 12 participants. The route, the vertical gain and the chance of reaching the summit are identical.

What happens if the guide decides it is unsafe to continue?

The group turns back and descends. The guide's decision is final. You are booking a guided attempt, not a summit, so there is no partial refund tied to reaching the top.

Can I do this trek in winter?

Not in this one-day format. In winter Toubkal is a snow climb needing crampons, an ice axe and the judgement to use them, and we will not compress that into a single day. Our winter itineraries run over three days or longer.

What should I choose if I am not fit enough for the one-day ascent?

The 2-day Mount Toubkal trek: the same mountain, the same route and the same guides, with the climb divided over two days and a night at the refuge at 3,207 m.

How much does the one-day Toubkal trek cost?

The sportive group departure is €117 per person and the private option is €162 per person. Booking direct with us applies our standard 5% direct saving, so €111.15 and €153.90 per person respectively. Accommodation, meals other than dinner in Imlil, and equipment rental are not included.

What emergency support is there?

Emergency response support, including access to an intervention team and ambulance support, is available when required. An ambulance does not accompany the group on the mountain and we do not promise a response time.

What should I bring?

Broken-in boots with grip, trekking poles, a warm layer and windproof, at least 3 litres of water, your own trail food, a headlamp and sun protection. Kit can be rented from our shop in Imlil.

How long does the Toubkal in One Day last?

This experience lasts 1 day. The experience runs from Marrakech.

Is hotel pickup included in the Toubkal in One Day?

Departure from Marrakech at 04:00, with the transfer to Imlil and back included. Meeting point: Marrakech — your exact pickup point is confirmed in writing with your booking.

Booking direct with us applies the standard 5% saving. We confirm your date and the plan for your day in writing before anything is booked.

How many people join the Toubkal in One Day?

Not included: Accommodation before or after the day, Breakfast, lunch and trail food, and drinks, Personal trekking clothing, boots and poles, Trekking equipment rental, available from our Imlil shop, Travel and mountain insurance.

What should I bring on the Toubkal in One Day?

Bring: Broken-in hiking boots with ankle support and real grip — not trainers, Trekking poles (strongly advised for the descent), Warm layer, windproof shell, hat and gloves — the summit is cold in every season, At least 3 litres of water capacity, Your own trail food and snacks for a full day of climbing, Headlamp with spare batteries, Sun hat, sunglasses, high-factor sunscreen and a personal first-aid kit.

How difficult is the Toubkal in One Day?
