Arriving from Marrakech: how to plan the last part of the journey to your Imlil accommodation

You have a bed booked somewhere in the Imlil valley and a flight into Marrakech. The drive itself is the easy part; what catches people out is the last few hundred metres, the luggage, and the gap between the name on the booking and the place on the mountain. This is a planning guide for that, written from the transport side.

Step one: read your confirmation properly

Note the hamlet, not just "Imlil". Note any sentence about walking, steps, a track or a mule. Note whether the property asks for your arrival time — several in this valley do, because that is how they send someone or something down to meet you. If your confirmation mentions none of this, it does not mean there is no walk; it usually means nobody wrote it down.

Step two: know what the last stretch can be

Three situations exist in this valley. The vehicle reaches the property. The vehicle reaches a known point and you walk the rest, sometimes with bags going separately by mule — an arrangement the property makes. Or nobody has published the answer, which is the case for most properties here. We tell you which of the three applies to your booking before you pay, and we do not invent a walking time to fill the silence.

Step three: luggage

Your bags travel with you in the vehicle; it is private to your party. Where a walk finishes the journey, how your luggage gets up is between you and the property — and it is worth one message to them the week before, especially with hard suitcases.

Step four: arrival time and daylight

If your property involves a walk, arriving in daylight makes a real difference on your first day at altitude. Tell the property the arrival time you have booked with us, so anyone meeting you knows when to be there.

Step five: getting back down

The return is booked the same way and at the same €50, on the day and time you choose. If there is a walk down to the vehicle, that happens before your pickup time, not after it — build it into the plan, particularly for a flight.

What to tell your driver

The property name as the property writes it, the hamlet if you know it, and anything the property told you about where cars stop. That is enough. Names repeat in this valley, so the exact spelling helps more than a map pin copied from a booking site.

Toubkal Views is a transport and trekking company. We are not any of these properties, we do not represent them and we have no partnership with them unless it is stated explicitly. We publish no room prices, availability, photographs or reviews for them, and nothing on this page is copied from a booking site. Where a property has not published a fact, we write UNKNOWN rather than estimate it.
